Ingredients
28 oz compliant canned tomato puree (eg, Cento)
28 oz compliant canned crushed tomatoes (eg, Cento)
¼ cup olive oil
1 small onion, diced
4 cloves crushed garlic
1 TBSP chopped basil leaves (or 1 tsp dried basil)
2 TBSP chopped fresh parsley (or 2 tsp dried parsley)
2 tsp dried oregano
½ tsp sea salt
¼ tsp pepper
½ tsp dried Italian seasonings
1 bay leaf
794 grams compliant canned tomato puree
794 grams compliant canned crushed tomatoes
59 ml olive oil
1 small onion, diced
4 cloves crushed garlic
1 TBSP (15 ml) chopped basil leaves (or 1 tsp [5 ml] dried basil)
2 TBSP (30 ml) chopped fresh parsley (or 2 tsp [10 ml] dried parsley)
2 tsp (10 ml) dried oregano
½ tsp (2.5 ml) sea salt
¼ tsp (1.25 ml) pepper
½ tsp (2.5 ml) dried Italian seasonings
1 bay leaf
Instructions
- Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large saucepan
- Add diced onion and saute until tender (4-5 minutes)
- Add crushed garlic and saute for 30 seconds
- Add tomato puree, crushed tomatoes, basil, parsley, and seasonings.
- Bring to a boil while stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat and add bay leaf.
- Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove bay leaf.
