Instructions
- Combine the egg whites, water, and whole egg together with whisk in a mixing bowl.
- Add all other ingredients except the onions and oil.
- Mix well and set this batter aside.
- In the meanwhile, slice onions into rounds to a thickness you prefer and separate them into individual rings.
- Fill a shallow pan with oil until its deep enough for frying the rings.
- Set the burner on medium-high and allow the oil to heat up--sprinkle a few water droplets into the pan--the oil should sizzle when ready.
- Dredge the onion rings in the prepared batter, then drop them into the oiled pan and allow them to fry for a few minutes until batter is crisp and onion cooked through. It should be golden-brown in color – do not over-cook batter as it will burn.
