Ingredients

8-10 medium apples (about 4-4.5 pounds)

1 cup water

¼ cup honey (optional; adjust to taste or omit for unsweetened applesauce)

1 tsp cinnamon (optional; adjust to taste)

Instructions

  • Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
  • Place in a large saucepan or stockpot.
  • Add one cup of water.
  • Heat to a simmer and then let simmer for at least 15 minutes.
  • When apples are soft, turn off heat and add cinnamon and honey if desired.
  • Stir.
  • Blend using an immersion (stick) blender until the desired texture is reached and let cool.
  • Alternatively, let cool, then blend in a stand-up blender or mash by hand.
